By-Laws

　

Circumstances found us, in the beginning of 2010, in need of some written by-laws and an official mouthpiece. These are merely the principles we've always operated under but clarified and written down.

In Attendance: Jill Ashcroft, Cori Spears, Aleisa Arnold, Annette Summers, Gentry Atkinson, Jennifer Whiting, Melva Cottle, Laura Moser, Linda France

　

1. Book Club Membership

- Book Club shall consist of 12 Members.

- When an opening arises, the group will discuss together those who have expressed interest in becoming Members. There shall be kept an unofficial waiting list of such persons. New Members shall be invited once all Members have agreed; according to their position on the waiting list.

- Former Members are always welcome to attend Book Club and participate in the discussion. However, Former Members do not host or select a book. Former Members whose circumstances now allow them to return to the group shall automatically become first on the waiting list should an opening arise.

2. Membership Requirements

- Each member must host Book Club once a year.

- Each member must select a book and lead the discussion on that book once a year.

3. Book Club Officers

- Annette Summers shall be our Representative for 2010. We will choose a new Representative each calendar year. The Representative will extend invitations to those we agree to invite as well as be our official mouthpiece to the outside world. She will work to resolve issues we may have with other individuals or groups and fulfill other duties as the need arises.

- Jennifer Whiting shall be our Club Secretary until further notice. The Club Secretary will compile the schedule each year, keep track of current contact information for all current and former Members, keep a history of the books we have read, and make this information available to all Members, as well as any other duties which may arise.
